I don't know what you played with, but this site is dedicated to *nix-based window manager called Enlightenment, specifically to its version 0.17, commonly known to the audience as simply E17. It works on Linux and some other Unix-derived operating systems, FreeBSD being one of them. In the *nix world a window manager is something that comes from the way-back-old-times. It's not quite a desktop environment, but an interface nevertheless. Some of these, like E16 and E17, are so flexible and powerful that they make traditional dekstop environment unnecessary.

So I dont know if this is the right place for this, especially since it kinda seems dead here... but here's an idea for a good backgroud/theme.

Thunder clouds with cloud movement and lightning flashes in the clouds. I think its a good idea and I hope some one with the skills agrees with me.

unable to set up animated wa

Hello, I have set up e17 on slackware and I would like to customise it by putting animated wallpaper. so I go to http://e17-stuff.org/index.php?xcontentmode=7050 and choose severals, then I extract files and put edj files in /home/myname/.e/e/backgrounds/

and go to menu, setting/wallpaper. I can see downloaded wallpaper but I have neither preview, neither applicated wallpaper in my desktop since it always load the default them wallpaper.

same problem with wallpaper2.
so what do I have to do to use animated desktop please?

Its on settings, wallpaper, but select 'Picture' button. Navigate to the folder where your image is. You can then pick whether to stretch, tile, and so on, and on which desktop (if not for all of them). This will convert your png or jpeg to an edj file. Once it is an edj file, it will turn up as a preview in e17.

Only in it for the eye-candy. What's *your* excuse?

You can try edje_decc on an animated wall and see how it was coded. But there are also resources on enlightenment.org with coding samples if I remember correctly.
